Let me say, this stunning beach scene & ocean picture of Hanauma Bay & Koko Head crater was a bum burner! You may laugh but it was true! My glutes were on fire by the end of the hike!! The views of the ocean & landscape are so worth the burn for sure. The whole day was filled with amazing views. At that time this hike was closed to the public & the gate guarded, so I had to do a little bush whacking to get to the trail. This hike is a solid climb up, up and along the top edge of another ancient volcanic crater. Which is really cool because you are looking down into an old volcano which is now filled which trees. From the top we dropped down and circled the crater to the land bridge, which was another steep drop to the ocean edge. After we left the land bridge, the final leg was the hardest because we had to climb back up to the top of the ridge before we could go back down to the car. It was a stunning day and yes, worth the burn for this vibrant beach picture!
